My little boy is already 8 months old! Most of the time I don’t even realize how much he has changed, but lately I have been noticing the changes in him. He is awake a lot more, sleeping 11-12 hours at night, crying much less, rarely if ever falls asleep when I am feeding him, rarely falls asleep when I am holding him or rocking him, looks so big in his bouncy seat, swing and other toys and has smelly poops! It’s little things, but it makes me realize he isn’t my little baby anymore. When I am around smaller babies I can see just how much he has changed. The good news is the crying is much better now and so is sleeping. He is a great baby now and he even likes riding in the car! It must be his new ride. Maybe he would have started liking the car at this point anyway, but it is pretty suspicious that since getting the minivan he almost never cries in the car! He seems to really enjoy it so we go out most days to run at least one errand. He loves riding in the cart around the stores, checking out everything. He does not like if mom isn’t right there though and is certainly noticing strangers more. When I was at the store the other day the lady behind me in line was chatting with him and he was watching her with a very nervous face. He kept looking back at me to make sure I was still there and that it was okay this strange lady was talking to him. Then the cashier started to move the cart away from me… I hate stores that move your cart behind them. This is not a good design for moms. Well, he freaked out as soon as he started to move away from me, but was fine the second I picked him up. I hope this phase doesn’t last too long because it is difficult for us to go out. He doesn’t like mom and dad to leave. Luckily he is really good with Casey so I can go do things at night and on the weekend, but we can’t go out together without him anymore.
As for foods he now eats the following items; apples, bananas, peaches, pears, mangoes, blueberries, avocados, prunes, apricots, beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, broccoli, cauliflower and parsnips. Today I tried regular old white potatoes and he refused to eat them! Strange that he has picked potatoes as his yucky item. I think if I mix them with other things we will be okay. I want to add some chicken soon. Also, corn and spinach. There aren’t many fruits to add so I am going to focus on carbs, veggies and meats for awhile. I also want to add some finger foods, but haven’t figured out what to do yet and I am so scared of him choking!
Let me take a minute to say I love my minivan. Every mom needs one of these! Say what you want, but there is nothing better. Designed for a mom no doubt. It is so nice getting him in and out of the car, so easy putting things in the trunk. Tons of space. When it was raining this week I could walk to the back and get all my stuff ready before getting out in the rain. Awesome! I have also already had to do a diaper change on the floor. Awesome! I am getting a little better with parking, but I still avoid crowded parking lots whenever possible. The camera to help me back up is worth its weight in gold.
I guess I am really into mirrors lately! He was having the best time talking to himself in the mirror. He gave himself a couple kisses, but I missed them.
I love this one because I think he looks like me from the front and Casey from the side.
Finding an old friend. He loved his pacifiers and then wanted nothing to do with them. I tossed them in the toy basket and he found them the other day. There are a couple in there and he grabs them right away and sticks them in his mouth. I think he is using them more as a teether, but he will suck and chew on them for awhile, spit them out, get distracted and start again.
