I’m behind on posting again, but April started out with spring break! At least, for this post it is starting that way because I honestly don’t remember what we did the beginning of April. For spring break we hung out with friends and made a last minute trip to the beach with cousins! Just me and the kiddos. We stopped for a quick visit at the aquarium on the way to Oak Island.
At the aquarium Caroline was all over the place and without a second set of hands our trip was pretty short. After a two hour car ride she was ready to run. We played a bit on the playground before heading to the ferry and our condo for the night. and then went for a ferry ride to from South Port to Oak Island. We managed to get the last spot on the ferry! There was a line of cars behind us waiting for the next one so we got pretty lucky. Graham was really excited and upset we didn’t go on another one on the way home (a bit out of the way). Caroline was scared on the ferry and attached to me the whole time.
Calling daddy on the phone, by herself. I had no idea she was on the phone.
We also prepped for Easter which was the last day of spring break. Egg dying went surprisingly well. Each child had their own dozen and dipping containers. Key to our success. No sharing.
I forgot to take photos of the finished eggs, but I kept Graham’s and then forgot about them…. for weeks, until we started smelling something bad in the kitchen and found them on top of the fridge! I grabbed a quick photo and dumped them in the trash outside. Caroline peeled most of hers or stuck her fingers in them.
Easter morning photos.
That morning we had a little egg hunt in the backyard. We gave Caroline a head start and then Graham starting getting eggs. All was going well until Caroline spotted an egg she wanted, but Graham took first. Then she lost it and refused to find more eggs. We told Graham to pretend to get the egg before she could get it and then let her have it. She started out pretty mad, but quickly realized the game and was all giggles.
At the end of the day I realized we didn’t take an “formal” Easter photos so we ran to the backyard and grabbed a few. They were surprisingly good about it.
Note this is when the fort (also known as my worst I idea yet) started.
